Android Lollipop and Devices Expected To Get OTA Update

Google has unveiled its next version of Android and lovingly dubbed it as Android Lollipop. Google also released developer previews for its Nexus breed of smartphones and announced that the Play Store devices will get Android Lollipop via OTA updates. But what about the Android smartphone owners who do not have a Google Play device; the people who are using a device that gets updates via their manufacturer? Google hasn’t made any announcements about that since Google does not regulate the updates on devices other than ones that are released by Google Play. Luckily for you, we have a list of predictions (and some confirmations) about the devices that will get the OTA update for Android Lollipop.

Android Lollipop

The company behind the big update, Google, has released the most information about the updates and when it will be released out to the regular users that have bought a Nexus device. The only device that isn’t properly confirmed as of yet is the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 10 tab since these devices are now two years old, have become somewhat outdated and aren’t eligible for updates from Google. The devices that have received the green signal from Google include:

Other Smartphones

Most companies that have recently entered the Android smartphone arena are silent about updates. These companies include Oppo and Asus.

OnePlus has announced that they will release their update in a minimal timeframe as soon as the Android Lollipop SDK is released.

Let’s hope your phone gets the update and you enjoy the wonderful overhaul that this high-spirited update is bringing.
